Reports To: Faculty Director

Job Location: Onsite, El Paso, TX

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: 06/01//2026

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

Position Summary

The University Honors Program (UHP) is designed to enable students to think and act deliberately, intentionally, and independently to build their own future. Through a mutually supportive community, the UHP guides students’ personal and professional growth and enhanced leadership capabilities, all guided by a curated set of curricular and extra-curricular experiences in each of the seven undergraduate colleges. The Program Manager is the central guide for this program.

Operations: Manages the daily operations of the University Honors Program, including developing and implementing administrative procedures in collaboration with the UHP Director; working with the UHP Director to implement the new strategic plan for the program; developing processes to support the transition from current to new requirements and procedures; verifying and preparing materials and information to comply with required reports; collecting and analyzing program data to evaluate impact and student success; handling all budget accounts associated with the UHP; and ensuring compliance with funding sources.

Applications and Admissions: Manages the application and admissions process to the University Honors Program across all colleges and schools, including management of application processes across all colleges, verification of student eligibility, and communication of admissions decisions.

Supervision & Collaboration: Oversees a full-time staff Coordinator responsible for day-to-day communications, the website, the social media account, and event coordination. Collaborates with a small team of Faculty Mentors who direct the day-to-day work of peer mentors and support UHP students in documenting their leadership and high-impact experiences in a meaningful way.

Communications Management: In coordination with the UHP Director, approves high-level communications, emails, and web content, and supervises the Coordinator to ensure all stakeholders remain informed and supported.

Stakeholder Engagement: Meets regularly with the UHP Director, the University Honors Faculty Council, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth program operations and institutional alignment.

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university

and

Experience: Five or more years of experience in an administrative role, with strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to coordinate and communicate across all colleges and schools, and to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience related to budgeting, planning and analysis, and improvement of administrative processes; familiarity with Microsoft 365, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
