    Purpose

    Provide direction and oversight for a short-term project to move library materials (trays of books, boxes of paper, oversized bound newspapers, etc.) from one warehouse space to another warehouse space at the Collections Preservation and Research Complex (CPRC) at the University of Texas Pickle Research Campus in North Austin.

    This person in this position will supervise a team of 6 FTE carrying out the moving operations. The person in this position will also carry out moving tasks themselves. Selected applicant must complete OSHA certification training within first week of employment. Training hours may be different than regular work hours, to be arranged.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervise team of 6 FTE in the move of library materials from CPRC unit 1 to CPRC unit 4. (Assign daily duties and coordinate workflows for team.)
    • Operate order picker to retrieve and re-shelve library materials in storage areas (OSHA certification training provided).
    • Physically transport library materials from one storage area to another, using wheeled carts, pallet jacks, etc.
    • Update location information for all moved items in inventory system application using laptop or tablet. Also, record location information in paper log, as needed.
    • Other related functions as assigned


    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Two or more years of applicable work experience.
    • Supervisory experience.
    • Warehouse work experience.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
    • Ability to follow directions closely.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Ability to perform repetitive work while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail while entering data
    • Ability to perform data entry tasks using a laptop or tablet.
    • Ability to maintain regular work schedule and to meet deadlines.
    • Strong decision-making skills.


    Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Four or more years of applicable work experience.
    • Library work experience.


    Salary Range

    $41,000

    Working Conditions

    • Work takes place in warehouse conditions.
    • Work at a height of up to 30 feet on an order picker.
    • Use of a laptop or tablet for data entry.
    • Lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, walking, standing.
    • May work in extreme temperatures (warehouse is 55 degrees F).
    • Possible exposure to dust and mold.
    • May work around mechanical hazards.


    Work Shift

    Monday-Friday, 2 – 10:30 p.m.

    Employment Eligibility:

    Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers.     Retirement Plan Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
