Purpose
Responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing merchandise for dining service and housing operations within University Housing and Dining (UHD).
Responsibilities
- Receive, tag, rotate, and properly store delivered merchandise, ensuring compliance with health code standards and University Housing and Dining policies. Ensure proper labeling and storage of products, follow first in first out (FIFO) guidelines. This process involves verifying expiration dates, product quality, and inspecting for potential damage. Distribute merchandise to internal locations operating pallet jacks when necessary. Assist in inventory as assigned to complete purchasing requirements.
- Maintain proper cleaning sanitation standards in the work area including freezers and coolers. Maintain cleanliness of the facility.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with staff, supervisory staff, and/or customers. Maintain current knowledge of all areas of responsibility. Provide excellent customer service.
- Adhere to written and oral University and UHD policies such as time and attendance and UHD / UT trainings and compliance. Complete and maintain required food safety training, including Texas Food Handler Safety. Follow work safety guidelines and utilize proper PPE as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation, GED, or vocational school.
- Six months experience in receiving, storing, issuing, and accounting for property in stores or warehouse unit.
- Six months of experience in stock handling and/or maintaining records.
- Ability to complete and maintain Food Safety Training required by University Housing and Dining.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- More than six months of experience in stock handling, maintaining records, receiving, storing, handling, and issuing food and food service supplies.
- Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to receive, respond, and follow through with written and oral University and Housing and Food policies, procedures, and work-related instructions and requests from supervisors, customers, and co-workers.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Professional demeanor and ability to work with staff and customer base.
Salary Range
$37,440 depending on qualifications
