    General Notes

    The purpose of this position is to work on several projects related to microplastic analysis, using advanced analytical techniques such analytical pyrolysis and chemical imaging. In addition to laboratory work, there will also be field work and sample collection in coastal environments and watersheds in South Texas.

    Position is one year appointment with possibility of extension based on funding and performance.

    The position is primarily located in Port Aransas, Texas, but travels to field sites several times a year may be needed.

    Responsibilities

    • Collect samples and conduct sample pretreatment
    • Perform sample analysis using different analytical techniques
    • Prepare data for publication
    • Present research results to national and international conferences


    Required Qualifications

    Incumbent must have a Bachelor of Science degree.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Broad expertise in environmental or analytical chemistry in aquatic environments. Highly desirable qualifications include experience in plastic analytical, and experience in using advanced analytical tools, such as gas/liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, and analytical pyrolysis etc.

    Salary Range

    $35,000 commensurate with experience

    Employment Eligibility:

    Retirement Plan Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

  • Compliance:
