    Purpose

    The Financial Success Coordinator will counsel students on personal financial issues, including budget planning, credit management, and debt reduction. Provide financial literacy and financial aid information and programming to students so they can make informed decisions. Plan and lead various outreach events and activities to increase public awareness of UT Austin resources and programs while assisting families in better understanding the financial aid and financing college process and assist with supervising and coordinating the Peer Mentor team. Act as a point of contact for students, parents, campus, and community stakeholders regarding financial wellness. Must be willing to obtain Certified Personal Finance Counselor Certification (CPFC).

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct financial wellness appointments and presentations that assist students with educational and personal financial wellness issues, including FAFSA completion, financial aid processes, budgeting, credit management, debt reduction, and more.
    • Serve as point-of-contact and steward of financial wellness activities to university and community stakeholders. Plan and conduct various financial literacy and financial aid events and activities on and off campus, ensuring that stakeholder and leadership goals are met.
    • Supervise the Financial Success Peer Mentor program. Plan and deliver ongoing training, provide feedback and assessment of peer mentor work. Hire peer mentors and ensure that their skills and availability meet the needs of the office.
    • Assist Texas One Stop during peak periods via front counter or email to counsel students on a variety of enrollment services (i.e., financial aid, billing, academic records, registration). Apply critical analysis, independent discretion, and professional judgment to address a wide range of student needs and situations.
    • Oversee the Financial Success digital resources. Plan and execute strategies for delivering digital content to students to meet the needs of students and leadership.
    • Other related functions as assigned.


    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree. A combination of 4 years of experience in financial counseling, student financial aid, student personnel, student services, or related experience. Proficiency with software including Microsoft 365 Office Suit. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and customer focused. Candidates must have superior project, communication, and time-management skills and a professional demeanor. Must be capable of multi-tasking in a high-stress environment. Must be able to prioritize work assignments to complete work within required time periods. Willing to work evening and weekend events as required. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Must divest any stock or ownership interest in student loan lender before start of employment. Shares in publicly traded mutual funds or similar investment vehicles are exempt. As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal student loans and must grant permission for the office to access NSLDS to verify such standing.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s degree. More than the required years of experience. Proficiency with software including Salesforce CRM and WaitWell. Extremely detail-oriented. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to handle stressful situations with composure. Knowledge of and proficiency with software including MS Word and Excel. Ideal candidates will be able to set priorities and manage multiple projects. Ability to remain productive in a fast-paced, shared space environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to make presentations to individuals and groups of various sizes. Spanish-speaking.

    Salary Range

    $50,000 depending on qualifications

    Employment Eligibility:

    Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers.     Retirement Plan Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
