    Executive Director, Supply Chain and Procurement

    Within this rapidly evolving environment, UT Medicine is seeking an Executive Director, Supply Chain and Procurement to serve as the enterprise leader responsible for the strategic direction, governance, and operational performance of supply chain and procurement across the academic health system. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this leader will play a critical role in building and modernizing a highly integrated supply chain infrastructure that supports clinical, academic, and research operations while advancing operational resilience, financial stewardship, supplier strategy, and technology-enabled innovation across the enterprise.

    As Executive Director, Supply Chain and Procurement, you will have the opportunity to:

    What You’ll Do

    • Develop and execute enterprise-wide supply chain and procurement strategy aligned with organizational clinical, operational, and financial priorities
    • Oversee sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, and distribution operations across the health system
    • Lead initiatives focused on enterprise cost stewardship, operational efficiency, and supply continuity
    • Build and strengthen strategic vendor and supplier partnerships while optimizing contract performance and procurement operations
    • Advance technology-enabled supply chain capabilities, including predictive analytics, AI-driven forecasting, automation, and real-time operational dashboards
    • Collaborate closely with executive leadership across finance, clinical operations, IT, research, and administration to align supply chain strategy with enterprise growth objectives
    • Lead organizational development efforts across supply chain functions, including leadership development, workforce planning, succession planning, and operational excellence initiatives
    • Ensure compliance with healthcare procurement regulations, audit standards, internal controls, and risk management requirements
    • Support operational readiness for future hospital expansion, ambulatory growth, and evolving academic and clinical programs


    Who You Are

    The ideal candidate is a strategic and operationally sophisticated healthcare supply chain executive with experience leading complex supply chain organizations within integrated health systems or academic medical centers. This individual will bring strong financial acumen, operational leadership capability, and the ability to build scalable infrastructure within a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.

    Required Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field
    • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare supply chain, procurement, logistics, or sourcing operations
    • Experience leading large-scale supply chain operations within a complex integrated healthcare system or academic medical center
    • Demonstrated success implementing technology, analytics, or AI-enabled solutions within supply chain operations
    • Proven ability to manage large budgets, vendor ecosystems, and enterprise sourcing strategies
    • Strong executive communication, change management, and cross-functional collaboration skills


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience within a large academic medical center or multi-hospital health system
    • Professional certifications such as CMRP, CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, Lean Six Sigma, or PMP
    • Demonstrated success leading enterprise transformation, operational standardization, or system integration initiatives
    • Experience supporting major expansion, construction, or hospital startup initiatives


    Salary Range

    $305,000 depending on qualifications

    Employment Eligibility:

    Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers.     Retirement Plan Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

  • Compliance:
