    Purpose

    This position manages the Chemistry Testing Center and departmental printing operations, including exam scheduling, accommodations, room reservations, surveys, records management, and supervision of student workers. The role also provides student services support, assists with undergraduate activities, and offers administrative and operational support to department leadership.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the Chemistry Testing Center, including administration of the RegisterBlast system; coordination of exam scheduling with student accommodations; and hiring, training, and supervising student workers for front desk operations and print request management.
    • Serve as liaison for Course Instructor Surveys by submitting, collecting, and managing all department surveys.
    • Coordinate TA surveys by distributing and collecting faculty feedback each semester.
    • Oversee coordination of final and evening exams.
    • Manage room reservations for departmental spaces not used for scheduled classes.
    • Oversee printing and scanning operations, including managing all exam print requests for Chemistry courses.
    • Manage records in accordance with university guidelines, including maintaining files and submitting disposal requests.
    • Perform other duties as assigned (i.e., ACS periodic reports, pre‑requisite checks, assigning LAs to classes, reviewing syllabi, etc.).
    • Assist with undergraduate activities including the capstone events and graduation ceremony.
    • Assist students and faculty with general questions and issues related to Student Services in Chemistry.
    • General administrative and operational support to the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Education


    Required Qualifications

    A bachelor’s degree. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines and adhering to established procedures. The candidate must be able to interact effectively and maintain productive working relationships with faculty, staff, and students, while maintaining a professional, courteous, and service‑oriented demeanor. Experience taking ownership of projects or operational responsibilities and carrying them through to successful completion is required.

    Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred qualifications include experience supporting academic programs, testing centers, or exam administration in a higher education environment, as well as experience supervising and training student employees. Familiarity with student services functions, academic records management, and confidentiality requirements is desirable. Experience coordinating surveys or collecting and managing feedback from faculty and students is also preferred. Knowledge of university policies and procedures related to instruction, exams, or undergraduate education—particularly at The University of Texas—is beneficial. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced academic setting.

    Salary Range

    $47,000 depending on qualifications

    Employment Eligibility:

    Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers.     Retirement Plan Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
