Head Resident II

Purpose of Position

Live-in position; Responsible for the administration and operation of a residential community through staff and student development, resident outreach and education, community building, attention to facilities, and administrative organization.

Essential Functions

• Direct supervision of Community Directors, Community Coordinators, Resident Assistants, and Office Assistants; recruit, train, and evaluate staff.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call duty rotation for crisis and emergency incidents.
• Oversee community budgets, summer conferences, occupancy processes, and facility management.
• Serve on university-wide and departmental committees; collaborate on campus traditions and initiatives.
• Provide mediation, counseling, and support for diverse populations; refer students to Behavioral Intervention Team.
• Ensure positive learning environment; supervise staff and advise councils to align with institutional mission.
• Act as conduct officer; process incident reports, assign sanctions, and maintain accurate records.
• Execute special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience working in higher education or six (6) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree
• Supervisory experience
• Two (2) years of experience in a student resident

• Ability to make sound decisions and delegate tasks
• Ability to provide crisis management
• Problem-solving
• Effective communication with students, staff, faculty, and parents.
  
  

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm
• Participates in a 24-hour emergency on-call rotation.
• Some nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
