Job Summary

The Graduate Nursing in the College of Nursing & Health Innovation, at the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for a Director, Doctor of Nursing Practice & Clinical Assistant Professor. The Director, Doctor of Nursing Practice Program provides strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for the DNP program. This role ensures the program meets the highest standards of clinical excellence, accreditation compliance, and student outcomes. The Director oversees curriculum development, faculty performance, program evaluation, and partnerships with clinical sites to support advanced nursing practice education.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in nursing ( DNP or PhD) or related field (e.g., EdD)
  • Unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas
  • 3-5 years experience in advanced nursing practice, nursing education, and academic leadership.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards and graduate nursing curriculum design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience directing a graduate nursing program.
  • Records of scholarly activity, grant writing, or clinical leadership.
  • Experience with online or hybrid program delivery.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience in graduate nursing education.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Program Leadership and Administration

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the DNP program in alignment with institutional goals and national standards.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements (e.g., CCNE , AACN , state boards of nursing) and prepare documentation for reviews and site visits.
  • Develop and manage program budgets, resource allocation, and operational planning.
  • Oversee student recruitment, admissions, progression, and graduation processes.

Academic and Curriculum Oversight

  • Guide the development, review, and continuous improvement of the DNP curriculum to ensure relevance, rigor, and alignment with current clinical practice.
  • Integrate evidence-based practice, quality improvement, leadership, and health systems content across the curriculum.
  • Ensure high-quality delivery of didactic, clinical, and capstone/project components.
  • Support the development and evaluation of DNP scholarly projects.

Faculty Leadership and Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty teaching in the DNP program.
  • Promote faculty development in teaching, scholarship, and clinical practice.
  • Facilitate collaboration among faculty to ensure cohesive program delivery and innovation.

Student Success and Support

  • Foster a supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement, retention, and academic excellence.
  • Provide guidance to students on academic progression, scholarly projects, and professional development.
  • Address student concerns and implement strategies to enhance student satisfaction and outcomes.

Clinical Partnerships and Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clinical partners, healthcare organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Secure high-quality clinical placements and preceptors for DNP students.
  • Represent the program at professional conferences, community events, and academic forums.

Strategic Planning and Quality Improvement

  • Lead long-term planning for program growth, innovation, and sustainability.
  • Collect and analyze program data to drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Monitor trends in advanced nursing practice and incorporate emerging competencies into the program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
