JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of assigned supervisor, the Senior Building Grounds Service preserves, develops, and cares for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center properties, both on and off campus, as it pertains to landscape maintenance, within a geographical region. This position is classified as an Essential Services Employee. Essential Services Employees maintain business operations for UT Health Science Center, supports the physical operations and safety of the campus. This role involves performing various operations and services essential to maintaining critical infrastructure and ensuring continuous operations.
Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of satisfactory work performance in a ground’s maintenance/horticultural field encompassing duties described above. Basic knowledge of horticultural. Possess skills of landscape maintenance. Ability to operate a pickup truck with trailer, tractor, and skid loader. Must have a valid Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to lift 75 lbs. from the ground to truck loading heights; ability to perform physical labor outside, eight (8) hours a day, in all weather conditions.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position is required to report to the designated work location to ensure operation of essential campus functions or departments during an emergency, or when the University has suspended or delayed operations. This position occasionally works weekends.

Responsibilities

- Performs horticultural duties to include planting, fertilization, watering, cultivation and maintenance of trees, shrubs; installs woody plant material.
- Installs and maintains annual and perennial flowerbeds maintenance and installation including but not limited to planting, pesticide application, pest control, fertilization, cultivation, and watering.
- Provides litter pickup and removal as needed.
- Provide curb line maintenance as needed.
- Removes debris from parking lots, walks, and streets as needed.
- Removes snow and ice during inclement weather.
- Operates large and small equipment to perform day-to-day light maintenance and operation.
- Utilizes vehicle use to perform the day-to-day light maintenance and operation.
- Performs other related duties as required.
