Primary Duties And Responsibilities
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and one to three months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Use of personal computer and associated software, police radio, firearms, investigative equipment and resources, photographic and video equipment, basic office equipment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Adheres to university and department policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Performs law enforcement activities; to include enforcing federal, state, and local laws and USM rules and regulations, responding to emergency calls involving crimes, disturbances, accidents, personal injuries, fires, natural disasters, etc.; investigating crimes and violations of USM rules and regulations, accidents, etc.; engaging in proactive police activities to prevent crimes, disorder, property loss, accidents, etc.; providing a wide range of community services involving traffic and crowd control, security at special events, crisis intervention, referrals, escorts, motorist assistance, public information, emergency notification, medical assistance, etc.
- Participates in the planning and implementation of crime prevention and personal safety programs and services, to include interacting with students, faculty, staff, and others to solve problems related to safety, security, and crime issues; conducting programs to educate the public about crime prevention and personal safety; conducting security inspections of physical facilities; and providing escort services.
- Participates in risk management and loss prevention programs and services, to include identifying and correcting situations which pose a threat to personal safety as well as property loss/damage; investigating incidents which result in personal injury and property loss/damage; and conducting programs to educate the public about risk management and loss prevention.
