Japan Studies Post-Doctoral Scholar
The World History Center and Asian Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh are seeking applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship in Japan in World history beginning August 2026. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in the history of Japan or a related discipline from an accredited university before the appointment begins.

In addition to engaging in their own research, the postdoctoral fellow will actively participate in World History Center activities and intellectual community, give one public lecture about their own research, collaborate with the Director and faculty on current research initiatives, and teach a one-semester course on Japan in World history per year.
In order to fully participate in Center activities, the postdoctoral fellow will have to reside in the Pittsburgh area. Salary and benefits are competitive.
Applicants must submit through the Talent Center:

- curriculum vitae
- unofficial transcript
- one-page dissertation abstract
- dissertation table of contents
- a statement of up to 1,500 words describing the proposed research project during the fellowship
