Department CIRT, Instructional Design Compensation $50,000.00 Annual General Description / Primary Purpose The Coordinator of Accessibility supports the university’s commitment to equitable and accessible digital learning experiences. This position develops, implements, and maintains processes to ensure compliance with accessibility standards for digital course materials and related technologies. The coordinator provides training, consultation, and support to faculty, staff, and designers in creating and remediating accessible content for online and hybrid courses. The coordinator collaborates closely with campus partners to implement sustainable accessibility practices and maintain compliance with ADA Title II, Section 508, and WCAG standards Key Responsibilities · Develop and maintain systems to ensure compliance with ADA Title II, Section 508, and WCAG accessibility standards. · Conduct accessibility audits of digital learning materials and report findings to campus stakeholders. · Assist faculty with remediation of documents and media, including accessible PDFs, Word documents, presentations, and captioned or transcribed videos. · Design and deliver training, workshops, and resources on accessibility best practices for faculty, staff, and course developers. · Oversee captioning and transcript creation to ensure accuracy and compliance with accessibility guidelines. · Collaborate with campus partners to review and certify accessible materials for websites, social media, and online programs. · Maintain current knowledge of assistive technologies (e.g., JAWS, NVDA) and their use in digital learning environments. · Manage accessibility workflows, track progress, and compile data for reporting and continuous improvement. · Partner with the Student Accessibility Center to support digital accommodation needs. Stay informed on evolving legislation, best practices, and emerging technologies in accessibility and inclusive design Supervision Received Intermittent Supervision. The supervisor assigns tasks by defining objectives, priorities, and deadlines, and assists employees with unusual situations that do not have clear objectives. The employee plans and carries out successive steps, resolving problems and deviations in accordance with established instructions, policies, and accepted practices. The supervisor reviews the work for technical adequacy and conformance with practice and policy. Program Direction & Development Responsible for formulating and recommending policies and procedures related to accessibility standards for digital course materials. Policy Making and/or Interpretation Advocate for and present techniques to ensure the appropriate use of tools that support distance learning and accessibility standards. Level of Public Contact Works with faculty on a daily basis, manages vendor relationships, and has frequent interaction with staff from other departments. Required Qualifications Master's or Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
