Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The mission of the Department of Accounting and Finance (ACF) is to provide high-quality undergraduate education programs for accounting and finance majors and graduate accounting education. We achieve this by integrating quality education with relevant research and professional service for firms, industry, and academe. This endeavor produces principled leaders and exceptional problem solvers with an innovative mindset and a commitment to improve and sustain organizations in a global environment and the communities in which they live.
The Department of Accounting and Finance comprises 22 full-time faculty in the accounting and finance areas. As of Spring 2026 the Department served 1147 undergraduate students and 126 students in the master’s in accounting program. All ACF programs are offered online and in person. Our accounting faculty are active in research and have published in journals such as The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, and Management Science, and Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory and other very-high quality journals.
The Bryan School of Business and Economics has 4,765 undergraduate and graduate students and over 130 full- and part-time faculty members housed in six departments. Accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB, the Bryan School is the recipient of many rankings, honors, and accolades. Additionally, in recent years, its tenure-stream faculty members averaged 2 to 3 peer-reviewed journal articles each, among them 15-20 in FT50 journals plus another 20-25 in other 4 or 4* journals (CABS AJG), in addition to books and grants. Position Summary
The Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking qualified applications for a tenure stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Accounting and Finance beginning August 1, 2027.
The University emphasizes high quality in research and teaching, and teaching responsibilities will primarily be at the undergraduate level and will include both online and face-to-face instruction. Service to the University and to the academic and/or practicing professions is also expected.

Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants should hold a Doctorate from an AACSB or EQUIS-accredited school with a specialization in Accounting or a related field.
- ABDs who expect completion by August 1, 2028, may be considered.
