To provide patient care to impaired or emotionally disturbed individuals under the direction of a nurse manager or charge nurse and in accordance with institutional policies and procedures. To perform job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose.

Knowledge of Human Behavior. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to recognize patients who are at risk for harming themselves or others. Ability to provide patient care and services. Ability to react calmly in emergency situations.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Monitors patients' physical and emotional well-being and reports unusual behavior or physical ailment to nursing staff.
- Administers or observes treatment and personal care such as feeding, bathing, and other hygienic measures.
- Prepares patient, equipment, and supplies for specific procedures and provides manual assistance as required.
- Escorts or transports patients to various hospital locations as directed. Restrains violent, potentially violent or suicidal patients by verbal or physical means as required.
- Collects specimens; takes and records measures of patient physical condition, using devices such as thermometers and blood pressure gauges.
- Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical and Environmental Demands
Requires frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, frequent bending, frequent lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
