The Sterile Processing Liason reports to the Sterile Processing Manager. Under limited supervision, the Sterile Processing Liaison develops customer relationships that enable staff to acquire and maintain the service necessary to support operational and organizational goals.

Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions
- Anticipates the needs of the surgical team and participates in daily rounds.
- Contributes to the internal review of department standards.
- Coordinates an inventory of instruments and assures that patient/physician needs for specialty surgical instrumentation are met.
- Coordinates sterile processing functions that are necessary to support the OR which includes the decontamination, processing and sterilization of surgical instruments, and processing of the turnover of instruments for immediate use.
- Coordinates with the SP manager to execute plans and projects as necessary to assure continuous performance improvement to the job's responsibilities.
- Functions as preceptor for new employees for all surgical specialties.
- Participates as a member of the team; active in performance improvement and understands relationships between organizational and SPD activities.
- Performs routine job duties of the Surgical Technician in Sterile Processing.
- Provides recommendations on the storage and deletion of instruments on the core storage racks.
- Responds to immediate physician's needs; develops and implements permanent solution in conjunction with Service Team members and the Sterile Processing Manager/shift coordinator(s).
- Serves as liaison between the Sterile Processing department and the Operating Room department to assure smooth, uninterrupted daily instrument support while role facilitates continuous communication and performance improvement as it relates to surgical instruments.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

- High School Graduate
- Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program
- Experience as OR Scrub Technician and/or Sterile Processing Technician
- IAHCSMM or Certified Registered Central Service Technician within 120 Days
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician(CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) OR
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (AST)
