Position Summary
This senior administrator, who reports to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, will advise the President and Provost on issues related to accreditation, provide leadership for operations in the Office of the Provost, and supervise Provost Office staff in the Administration Building. The Office of Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness and Academic Affairs Communications will be direct reports to this position.
The Chief of Staff promotes excellence in operations and effectiveness in communications while carrying out special projects and assignments requested by the Provost. This person will also serve as a key resource for direct reports to the Provost and as a liaison to administrative units across the university on behalf of the Provost, including Development and Alumni Relations, UGA Athletic Association, Finance and Administration, and Government Relations.

Demonstrated capability in project management and accreditation processes as well as an understanding of the organizational and administrative structures at the University of Georgia.

- Engages with key internal and external partners, including government, non-profit, philanthropic, and corporate partners, to advance academic priorities.
- Initiate, draft, and edit correspondence.
- Review and advance the fund agreement process for philanthropic donations to the academic affairs unit.
- Manage a calendar of signature events hosted by the Office of the Provost, including the Faculty Recognition Banquet, ALG retreat, faculty meetings, and other engagement opportunities for the provost to connect with groups across the campus.
- Serve as a co-chair of the commencement committee.
- Carry out special projects as assigned by the Provost.
- Supervise reception and general support staff in the Office of the Provost
- Independently preparing non-routine letters, reports, and other documents, which may be highly sensitive and confidential in nature, utilizing OIR as a resource as needed for pulling data and reports.
- Oversee and evaluate Admin IT unit in conjunction with the Office of the President for IT services provided to the Office of the Provost.
