Housed within a tier one research university, the Lamar Dodd School of Art is a comprehensive, nationally ranked school offering undergraduate and graduate programs in studio art, design, art education, and art history. Position Summary

Academic Professional Associate- Checkout for Audio Visual Equipment (CAVE)

The Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Academic Professional Associate.

This position serves a vital role in the School of Art and on the Dodd Studio Support team, managing the daily operations of the Checkout for Audio and Visual Equipment (CAVE) and Dodd Creative Supply with shared responsibilities for the Flat Lab. The role is essential in ensuring access to, maintenance of, and oversight of a wide range of equipment and resources that support teaching, research, and learning at the Lamar Dodd School of Art.

The position also includes teaching three studio art courses per year based on the candidate’s strengths and the needs of the school. Academic Professionals are expected to contribute to undergraduate instruction, participate in service appropriate to appointment, and engage actively in the intellectual and creative life of the school.

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates with a non-terminal master’s degree must document exceptional accomplishments in their respective field and be approved for a terminal degree exception before hire.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States at the time of appointment.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

We seek a technically proficient, interdisciplinary artist-educator whose background reflects a commitment to collaboration and community building, and who possesses a strong understanding of the technological needs of an art program.

Ideal Candidates Will Demonstrate

  • Evidence of successful college-level teaching in undergraduate studio art courses.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of audio/visual equipment, including manual and digital cameras, video cameras, lenses, lighting, projectors, monitors, media players, audio recorders, mixers, microphones, speakers, data storage systems, cables, large-format printers, scanners, and adapters.
  • Strong understanding of technological needs of an art program and management of assets.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of equipment within a school of art environment.
  • Ability to manage a team of student workers and hourly staff.
  • Commitment to building connections and supporting a strong creative community.
