UCF's Advancement & Partnerships division comprises the Office of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving and the UCF Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to assist donors wishing to offer private support to deliver resources beyond traditional funding sources, such as tuition, state support and government research grants. We are a powerful team of 130 professionals who support the university by soliciting, accepting and managing gifts as well as engaging alumni. Together, we work with alumni, friends, corporations, parents and others who seek to make gifts in support of priorities and initiatives in alignment with the university's strategic plan. The Opportunity: The UCF Foundation is seeking an experienced writer to support the Senior Associate Director of Communications & Marketing in researching, drafting, writing, and editing principal- and major-gift-level grant submissions, proposals, and related work. Responsibilities: The Grant and Proposal Writer will directly support the Senior Associate Director of Communications & Marketing in researching, drafting, writing, editing, and directing the design of principal- and major-gift-level grant submissions and proposals. Additional duties will include all related activities ranging from the facilitation of proposal development and letters of interest to gift announcement press releases and articles. This position will support the work of the Assistant Vice President for Corporate and Foundation Relations and other leadership team members and provide support to the Communications and Marketing team and the Assistant Vice President of Communications and Marketing as directed. Work on principal and major-gift level proposals and grant submissions and conduct research to create compelling and appropriate content. Write gift announcement press releases and articles for publication on the Foundation and Alumni websites, magazines, and UCF Today. Edit and proofread copy written by self and others to produce error-free, compelling, and concise text appropriate for the intended audience. Enter content/copy for grant proposals online and in printed formats, as required, ensuring compliance with specific individual grant proposal submission requirements. Conduct research, fact-checking, citation, and style guide alignment as required and write reports, grants, and fundraising collateral materials as required. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2 years of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications: Successful grant writing experience, preferably with an educational and/or non-profit focus Three years of professional writing experience; preferably in higher education Highly organized with the ability to manage projects and communicate with a variety of audiences Proficiency in researching, analyzing, and interpreting diverse information from a wide range of fields/industries Proven ability to grasp and communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, with editing and document design experience)Database familiarity/experience.
