Position Description Summary/Purpose:
The College of Health Sciences has an immediate need for Medical Laboratory Science faculty. The adjunct faculty member with teach Medical Laboratory Science (MLSC).
This role is a non-tenure position.
Needs one or more faculty to teach Hematology (MLSC-350 Advanced Hematology and Coagulation, 3 credits) and/or coordinate the Clinical Hematology Rotations Course (MLSC-382, 3 credits.)
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- The adjunct faculty member will teach Medical Laboratory Science
- Teaching Advanced MLSC Hematology/Coagulation courses and related duties including:
- Utilizing available resources to effectively meeting the learning needs of students as required by certification and accreditation standards.
- Interact, effectively communicate and integrate as needed with other departments of the University of Bridgeport community and with clinical partners and peers.
Knowledge-Skills-Abilities:
- Previous College or University teaching experience is expected and preferred
- Documented continuing education in MLS within in the last three years is required.
Other Functions:
- Performs related duties as necessary to support the University of Bridgeport and continued accreditation of the MLS program.
- Participate in the MLS Advisory Board annual meetings.
- Participate in the senior-level Correlations course (MLSC-388)
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree
- 3 years recent clinical experience with described experiential parameters
- MLS (ASCP), categorical or equivalent certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience
- Generalist certification as an MLS or a categorical certification in H(ASCP) with as minimum a BS degree,
- Advanced MS or higher degree preferred
- Previous teaching experience is desired.
