The Fixed Asset Auditor I will provide support to the university’s property control function by performing routine tasks related to the tracking, auditing, and documentation of UAH’s fixed assets. This entry-level position assists with physical inventories, data entry, and departmental coordination involving asset tagging, surplus management, and asset transfers. Working under direct supervision of the Manager of Fixed Assets and Capital, the incumbent has the opportunity to learn financial systems, state and federal compliance requirements, and campus-wide inventory procedures. The Fixed Asset Auditor I reports to the Fixed Assets and Capital Improvements Accounting Manager and works closely with the Fixed Asset Auditor II and other Finance staff.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assists in conducting physical inventories of fixed assets across departments and buildings. Verifies asset presence, condition, and tag accuracy.
- Enters and updates asset records in the financial or asset tracking systems. Assists in reconciling records during audits or transfers.
- Applies UAH asset tags to new equipment and updates documentation for surplus or disposed items. Assists with basic surplus property coordination.
- Provides support to campus departments during inventory cycles and helps ensure proper documentation for transfers, loans, or surplus.
- Learns and applies UAH policies, as well as state and federal asset control requirements, such as those from ADEPA and Uniform Guidance.
- May assist with special projects, temporary surplus collection, or provide administrative support within the Fixed Asset team.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- 1–2 or more years of work experience in inventory, data entry, administrative support, or a related field.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn fixed asset policies and systems.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to buildings across campus.
- Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Logistics, or a related field.
- Prior experience in inventory or asset tracking in a higher education, government, or warehouse setting.
- Familiarity with Ellucian Banner or other ERP software systems.
