Purpose of the Position:
The Assistant Director of Admissions for Recruitment Events is a member of the professional recruiting team that energetically and enthusiastically pursues and implements the recruiting and enrollment goals of the university. This position represents and interprets UAH accurately and persuasively to prospective students, parents, school officials, school counselors, teachers, and alumni as well as UAH faculty, staff, and students. This position also supports recruitment initiatives in the planning and execution of on and off-campus recruitment events.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Plans and executes programming for on-campus recruitment events, including but not limited to Charger Previews, Discovery Days, and Admitted Student Day, Guidance Counselor Day.
  • Oversees and directs logistics of event planning, implementation, and follow-up.
  • Trains and oversees all staff and student employees working events.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Associate Director on the creation of all event-supporting marketing materials.
  • Plans, executes and provides support for admissions counselors in the planning and execution of prospective student receptions and admitted student receptions in several key recruitment markets.
  • Administers multiple contracts with facilities vendors for service in accordance with budget constraints and University policies.
  • Determines ROI for individual events and conducts year-to-year and event-to-event analyses.
  • Provide admissions counseling and pre-advising to prospective students throughout the admissions cycle.
  • Participate in university-related travel to develop and cultivate relationships with prospective students, and school counselors for up to 12 weeks in the fall and up to eight weeks in the spring.
  • Schedule meetings with prospective students individually and their families while on campus to advise regarding specific stages of the admissions process, student-related pre-admission matters, evaluating problems, implementing solutions, and setting education goals
  • Develop and implement territory management plans for the assigned geographic territory.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of recruitment strategies for students from targeted areas and underrepresented populations.
  • Participate in the planning of execution of recruitment activities including high school visits, college fairs, receptions, and other territory events.
  • Ability to track recruiting efforts, generate and analyze reports to better manage an assigned territory, and provide regular updates (verbally and in reports) to the Director of Admissions
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with prospective students at all points in the admissions funnel through telephone, email, texting, in-person, and written communication. Answer telephone, email, and other inquiries and provide information to students, their families, and guidance counselors.
  • Provide in-depth consultations for undecided students. Follow up, track, and communicate with prospective students and assist them from prospect through enrollment


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
  • 2-3 years of full-time verifiable experience in a college/university setting, customer service, hospitality, OR marketing and communications-related field
  • Database management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and travel


Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • Event planning experience preferred
  • Directly related admissions experience
