What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Baseball Coach position at The University of Akron?
The University of Akron, a NCAA Division I (FBS) institution and member of the Mid-American Conference is seeking applicants for a part-time assistant baseball coach. This position will provide assistance to the Head Baseball Coach with the recruiting, daily coaching and teaching, game day responsibilities and administrative duties of the Baseball program. Assist in managing the recruiting process involving the search, evaluation, recruitment and communication of athletic and academic talented potential Baseball student-athletes. Assist in directing the coaching techniques for the day-to-day Baseball practices and activities and administering the development of off the field academic, social, community service and behavioral skills. Assist with Baseball game day coaching responsibilities including implementing game plan, scouting reports, base coaching and evaluation. Assist with performing various Baseball administrative duties including managing budgets, scheduling, arranging travel, procuring umpires, ordering equipment and fund raising activities. Cultivate positive relationships with Athletics Department, campus and surrounding community to encourage external involvement and community pride. Other duties as assigned. Requires a bachelor's degree required. Requires a minimum of 1 years collegiate and/or professional playing experience and/or a minimum of 1 year experience coaching at the collegiate or professional level. An understanding of college recruiting procedures and the technical fundamentals of Baseball required. Knowledge of NCAA rules and strong motivational and organizational skills required.
