Join Our Team!

We have an immediate need for a full-time Lifeguard to join the team at one of United Group's professionally managed multi – family housing communities located in Syracuse, NY. This position will report directly to the Property Manager and will be responsible for ensuring a safe and pleasant environment at the pool. The Lifeguard enforces rules, monitors guest access, and reports maintenance or safety concerns to the Property Manager.

Opening & Closing Duties

• Opens the pool each shift and close it down each evening, depending on schedule and hours
• Ensures pool gates are unlocked at beginning of shift/locked at end of shift
• Ensures all umbrellas are either put up/down at beginning/end of shift
• Ensures all pool furniture is staged/placed neatly at the beginning/during/end of shift

Cleanliness & Maintenance

• Ensures the pool area, poolside patio, and outdoor bathroom are clean of all garbage/debris during and at the end of shift
• Ensures the pool itself stays clean at all times of debris, dirt, and trash – vacuum and skim as necessary

Safety & Monitoring

• Monitors pool-related activities closely throughout shift and identify any safety issues
• Directs swimmers out of the pool in hazardous conditions
• Monitors weather reports closely to ensure the safety of guests

Rule enforcement & Guest Management

• Ensures all residents and guests comply with Property pool rules and regulations (form signed at move-in)
• Check/sign-in and out ALL residents and guests

Job Overview Requirements:

• Work Hours: Full – Time with variable shifts & weekends: i.e., 10am – 8pm & 11am – 7pm.
• Training for Position: Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, AED
• Certifications: Must have a current & valid Lifeguard Certification, as well as First Aid, CPR, & AED.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to swim at an experienced & advanced level; can perform life-saving measures as needed.
• Required Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a Lifeguard.
• Qualities: Demonstrates integrity on a personal and professional level; Exceptional communication, sales, and negotiation skills; Ability to solve problems involving residents and challenging situations.
