I have been getting a lot of resumes and I really appreciate all of the interest. I want to clarify what I’m looking for.

Saltwater aquariums (reef aquariums specifically ) require immense attention to detail. This job is a great job for the right person.

It is extremely challenging for me at the moment to train someone from scratch. I would be willing to do it for the right person but in my experience since opening the shop, finding reliable help has been extremely difficult. I am looking for someone that has experience with reef tanks and understands water chemistry, equipment, testing, and a basic understanding of reef aquariums. People that tend to do really well in this industry are OCD by nature. We love working hard, we are able to multitask on a very high level, it’s an awesome job but it’s demanding. You do get the benefit of working inside which is a plus as we approach summer.

There are other opportunities to help with pond maintance and my regular maintenance for my existing customers. I am working around the clock right now trying to photo and upload all of my corals to my online platforms. You have to be able to be creative and think outside of the box and you need both tenacity and a strong passion for art and keeping complex systems. One mistake can cause a loss that is unsustainable.

This is for people that have drive, don’t mind getting their hands dirty and can step up and help me continue to grow the business.

I personally work 7 days a week 10-12 hours or more daily.

I have built the shoo to a very high standard.

I need someone that is not flaky, I just can’t have it, that’s what has created this situation and I love to gibe everyone the benefit of the doubt.

I’m looking for a self starter, nothing personal but I need someone who is genuine, accountable and has the mental aptitude to work and work pretty independently.

If you are a hustler and you do whatever it takes, you‘re likely a good candidate.

If you have a solid background in marine biology and want to help me educate people through interaction at the shop, you’re exactly who I’m looking for. I need a fellow artist that can assist with social media, shipping, going to clients houses and as I get back on my feet we will also start dicing and collecting. It you‘re certified to dice, that’s a huge advantage. I know there are fellow coral and fish nerds and that’s what im looking for specifically.

There will be a base salary with the opportunity to earn commission.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the shop team, providing guidance, training, and motivation to ensure excellent customer service and operational efficiency
• Manage daily shop activities, including inventory control, stock replenishment, and visual merchandising to create an engaging shopping environment
• Oversee shift management, ensuring smooth transitions between team members while maintaining high standards of guest services
• Handle guest inquiries with enthusiasm and professionalism, offering expert advice on aquatic products, fish care, and maintenance
• Conduct cash handling duties accurately during transactions and maintain detailed sales reports to support business operations
• Organize and manage in-store events or educational demonstrations to enhance customer engagement and promote aquatic knowledge
• Support the development of reports on shop performance, customer feedback, and staff progress to inform strategic decisions

Qualifications

• Proven management experience with a background in supervising teams within retail, hospitality, or restaurant environments
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff and foster a positive team atmosphere
• Excellent customer service skills with a passion for engaging guests and enhancing their shopping experience
• Experience in shift management, cash handling, and report writing is essential
• Knowledge of aquarium products, marine life care, or related fields is highly desirable
• Previous assistant manager or supervisory experience in a hospitality or resort setting is preferred
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
