Job Description: Main duty is to provide polite, professional, fast, and courteous service; high level of professionalism and focus on detail is expected. Essential functions include taking orders, polishing glasses, pouring water and wine, bussing and resetting tables, and running food.

Physical Requirements:

• Most work tasks are performed indoors though there will be also be restaurant seating as well as cocktail tables outdoors on the terrace.
• May be exposed to extreme weather conditions, including excessive heat and cold.
• Physical ability to walk and handle trays, food items, glasses, etc. in a safe and constructive manner for at least 4 hours at a time.  
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
• Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
• Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
• Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.

Qualifications:

Education:

High school or equivalent education required

Experience:

Serving experience required; hospitality experience preferred

Licenses or Certificates:

Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.

Grooming:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per The Umstead Hotel standards.
