Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately to process retail sales transactions, including cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile payments
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos
- Manage cash drawer handling with precision, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed at all times
- Upsell products or services to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales opportunities
- Stock shelves and merchandise displays to maintain an organized and inviting store environment
- Conduct product demos when applicable to educate customers about features and benefits of items
- Maintain phone etiquette when assisting customers over the phone or via online inquiries
Requirements
- Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering preferred; grocery store experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of POS systems and cashiering procedures
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer needs
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately and balancing cash drawers
- Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership opportunities within the team
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising, and stock management practices
- Ability to perform retail math calculations quickly and accurately for sales totals and discounts
- Demonstrated phone etiquette skills for professional customer interactions
