The Treehouse Child Care Center is seeking a dependable, organized, and team-oriented Float Teacher / Office Closer to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in supporting classrooms throughout the day while also helping oversee center operations and safety during the evening hours.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Position Overview
During the first portion of the day, the Float Teacher / Office Closer provides classroom support throughout the center, covers staff breaks, assists with daily operations, and helps maintain a safe and organized environment for children and staff.
In the afternoon and evening, this individual serves as the primary point of contact for the center after administrative staff have departed. The Office Closer helps ensure smooth operations, conducts safety checks, verifies completion of closing responsibilities, and prepares the center for the next business day.
Essential Responsibilities
Classroom Support
- Provide float coverage in classrooms serving children from infancy through school age.
- Cover staff breaks and assist with classroom transitions throughout the day.
- Support classrooms experiencing staffing shortages or call-outs.
- Maintain compliance with all New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations and center policies.
- Assist with daily cleaning, organization, and sanitation tasks.
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children.
Leadership & Operations
- Serve as a professional role model and resource for staff.
- Communicate effectively with families, children, and team members.
- Assist with staffing adjustments due to absences, schedule changes, and classroom needs.
- Support staff in maintaining classroom standards, safety practices, and daily procedures.
- Complete and review incident reports and other required documentation.
- Assist with classroom combinations and ratio management when necessary.
- Accept parent payments, including cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
Closing Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary onsite lead during evening operations.
- Conduct nightly building and safety inspections.
- Verify completion of classroom and facility closing procedures.
- Ensure all cleaning and sanitation tasks have been completed.
- Secure the facility by locking doors, setting alarms, and preparing the center for reopening the following day.
- Respond appropriately to parent, staff, and operational concerns during closing hours.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work with children of all ages, from infants through school-age.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Experience working in licensed child care settings.
Preferred
- Experience in early childhood education or a related field.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices.
- Leadership experience or experience supervising and supporting team members.
