Join our dynamic team as a 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Middle School Site Assistant, where you will play a vital role in supporting after-school programs designed to enhance student learning, engagement, and development. The Training Center is a 21st Century Community Learning Center that provides experiential out-of-school learning opportunities to complement student’s regular academic programs. The program offers free homework assistance, tutoring, social emotional learning (SEL), and other educational enrichment services to families of participating students in kindergarten-8th grade who attend Marion Community Schools, St Paul Catholic School, and Lakeview Christian School.

Work Schedule:

Academic Year (August-May) -

  • 3:00pm-6:30pm Monday – Thursday

Summer Program (5-6 weeks, June-July) -

  • 8:30am-1:30pm Monday – Thursday

Note: position has 2-3 week breaks over Christmas/New Years holiday and between academic year and summer programming

Duties

  • Assist in implementing educational activities and enrichment programs aligned with curriculum goals
  • Support classroom management and student supervision during after-school sessions
  • Collaborate with teachers, program coordinators, and school staff to ensure smooth program operations
  • Help monitor student attendance, behavior, and participation to promote a positive learning environment
  • Prepare and organize materials for activities, ensuring all resources are ready for daily use
  • Maintain a safe environment by enforcing program rules and addressing student concerns promptly
  • Document program activities, attendance records, and incident reports accurately
  • Ride on the bus to help give directions to the bus driver and supervise student behaviors during student transportation from school, to off-site activities, and home after programming.

Qualifications

  • Experience in education teaching or education administration is highly desirable
  • Prior classroom experience working with elementary, middle school students or youth programs preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations in an educational setting
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing program materials and records
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with staff, students, and parents
  • Passion for education, youth development, and creating engaging learning experiences
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs within the program environment
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to organize and multi-task a variety of responsibilities and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision - self-motivated
  • CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions Certifications required within 90 days after entering position

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for periods of time
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to lift up to 10-20 lbs
