What we do:

This role is designed to provide in-office, hands-on, executional, employment legal support. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving matters forward - bringing structure and consistency to employment-related workflows and enabling the team's ability to focus on strategic priorities.

What you'll do:

  • Provide employment law advice and counseling to our People team and other stakeholders in North America on a broad range of issues, including recruiting, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, disability accommodations, wage and hour, terminations, internal investigations, compensation, workplace harassment, benefits, privacy, immigration, and employeeclassification.
  • Draft, revise, and advise on employment-related documents, including offer letters, separation agreements, and commission and bonus plans, as well as summaries, draft communications, templates, and other supporting materials for review.
  • Manage employment-related projects, including process reviews and the creation, implementation, and continual improvement of policies andprocedures, including helping to build foundational processes amidst evolving systems and workflows.
  • Create, update, and provide training programs on various employment lawtopics, optimized ways of working, and cross functional up-skilling.
  • Provide foundational support regarding employment-related litigation, claims, charges, investigations, audits, andsubpoenas.
  • Support the use of data and matter tracking to identify trends, generate insights, and inform data-driven decision making with respect to employment matters.
  • Monitor employment law-related legislation, regulations, legal developments, and government oversight activities that may affect the Company in North America.
  • Independently drive day-to-day execution of employment matters, including following up on open items, coordinating next steps, and ensuring timely progress in a fast-paced environment.

Who you are:

  • 6 years of employment law experience working for an internationally / nationally recognized firm, or in combination with inhouse experience.
  • Law degree froman accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice in New York or the ability to register as In-House Counsel in New York.
  • International employment law experience a plus.
  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively, with a high level of personal interaction in the office, across functions with a practical, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Able to work in a proactive, independent, and reliable manner under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibit excellent judgment, superior leadership, and strong problem-solving skills, and can proactively spot risk and deliver practical solutions.
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to build relationships across various teams and functions.
  • Effective communicator who can explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers and provide practical legal advice.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and delving into detail, including hands-on drafting, organization, and follow-through and able to push work forward amidst uncertainty.

In accordance with various US state laws, the range provided is the Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and location.All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as variable compensation-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. Employees can also purchase The Trade Desk stock at a discount through The Trade Desk's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is
$124,900$228,900 USD
