    Library Page (Part-Time)

    August 19, 2026, at 11:59pm $16.94/hr (starting salary) - $21.94/hr

    Job Summary:
    Supports the operation of the West Hartford Public Library by shelving library materials, gathering materials on hold, maintaining and moving collections, and working on special projects as assigned at any of the three library locations in West Hartford. Operates under the supervision of the Head of Circulation Services and is expected to use independent judgement.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Retrieves and shelves materials as required
    • Empties returned materials from book drops
    • Performs shelf reading to ensure books are shelved properly and collection remains organized
    • Answers directional questions and refers informational questions to appropriate staff
    • Performs other tasks as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to organize books both alphabetically and numerically
    • Ability to work with limited supervision
    • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions and remember instructions over long periods of time
    • Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse community
    • Physical requirements:
    • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
    • Ability to push and pull carts weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

    Work Environment
    Work is performed in a library setting. Must be able to push full book carts, reach high and low shelves, and empty outdoor book drops in all weather conditions.

    Basic Qualifications:
    High school student, graduate, or GED or equivalent is preferred. Must be at least 16 years of age.
    Must be able to work on weekends.
