What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Boat Ramp Attendant position at The Town of Shrewsbury?
Multiple enthusiastic self starters sought to monitor public boat ramps on Lake Quinsigamond and collect fees on a part time temporary basis, from May 29 - September 11 from 8 AM to 5:30 PM on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Holidays. Interested individuals must be available to work two-day shifts. Please indicate your availability when applying. Applicants must be at least age 21, and hold a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and high school diploma. The hourly rate is $19.00.
Examples of Work:
- Collect ramp fees from boat patrons and provide change as needed.
- Keep track of who is next in line to use the ramp.
- Maintain accurate record of fees collected, number of boats in attendance, daily weather, etc.
- Provide Lake Quinsigamond rules to patrons as needed.
- Inspect boat ramp each morning for any vandalism or broken items.
- Open and close restroom facilities. Clean restrooms daily and as needed.
- Deposit fees collected off-site.
- Call for emergency assistance in case of medical emergencies or other unforeseen situations.
- Return weekly records to town hall office building.
- Work cooperatively with other agencies on the lake such as Environmental Police, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Local police, etc.
- Report any vandalism or incidents to Police/Parks Department.
- Maintain a safe environment in the parking lot.
Required Skills:
- Ability to work with the public.
- Ability to count money and make change.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and fill out paperwork.
- Ability to work independently
- Some familiarity with boating and trailer skills and parking.
- Ability to enforce rules and regulations.
Working conditions:
- Work is performed outside in a variety of weather conditions. Standing & walking for extended periods of time on pavement, boat ramp docks, and grass.
