Under general supervision, this position is responsible for designing and implementing high-quality enrichment classes at Parker Arts. Utilizing effective age-appropriate education techniques and strong classroom management, the Enrichment Instructor creates and maintains a safe, creative, and inspiring class environment that encourages artistic exploration, skill development, and meaningful engagement for all participants.

  • Design and deliver classes catered to youth and/or adults.
  • Facilitate classes, workshops, and/or camps, ensuring they are safe, inclusive, and educational for all participants.
  • Demonstrate curriculum effectively to provide understanding of instruction-practices and encourages participants to explore their abilities.
  • Identifies and purchases necessary instructional materials within established budget guidelines
  • Independently instructs, leads, and manages classes with minimal supervision
  • Maintains accurate activity records, documents class attendance, and prepares reports as requested.
  • Creates and sustains a positive, inclusive, and enjoyable learning environment while engaging with participants in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Coordinates and schedules substitute instructors for assigned classes within timelines established by the Education Manager.
  • Supports the philosophies of the Town of Parker’s Cultural Department and adheres to all applicable policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, certification and/or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Two (2) or more years of experience in teaching art and/or enrichment for youth and/or adults. 

Education High school diploma or equivalent; prefer an associate or bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Culinary Arts, Theater, Education, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a CPR and First Aid certification within thirty (30) days of hire.

  • Working knowledge of foundational educational methods, materials, tools, and classroom practices across multiple mediums and/or topics.
  • Ability to develop age-appropriate and skill-appropriate lesson plans and projects.
  • Strong classroom or group-management skills and the ability to lead classes with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide proper instruction using both verbal description and physical demonstration.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage participants in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to follow organizational policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, including safe handling of materials and equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and weekends when required.
  • Ability to handle incidents reports and confrontations.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication and customer service skills.

Tools & Equipment

Requires use of general office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, and related software. Use of specialized tools or equipment may also be necessary, including but not limited to technical devices, mechanical tools, heavy equipment, machinery, public-safety-related items, or other industry-specific systems. If required by the position, the employee may operate a personal or Town-owned vehicle.

General and Sensory Requirements
The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls. Duties may also require stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs or ladders, and maintaining balance. The employee must be able to talk and hear effectively, both in person and over the phone, and must be capable of operating a vehicle if required by the role. Vision requirements include consistent near and far visual acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus to allow a broad field of vision.

Moderate Physical Demands
This position involves frequent physical activity and movement. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently and up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally. 

Environment

Physical presence onsite is required. Work is primarily performed in classrooms at the PACE Center and The Schoolhouse.
