As part of the selection process, candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation due to the sensitive and high-trust nature of law enforcement work. This process is thorough and intrusive, as it is designed to ensure integrity, suitability, and compliance with state and federal standards.
The background investigation typically includes an in-depth review of criminal history, employment history, financial records, driving record, and personal references. Candidates will also be required to complete a psychological evaluation and a polygraph examination. The psychological assessment evaluates overall emotional stability and job suitability, while the polygraph examination is used to verify information provided throughout the hiring process.

- Configures, monitors, and supports system functionality, including code tables, interfaces, permissions, and system integrations.
- Troubleshoots system issues, investigates data errors, and coordinates corrective actions with vendors, IT staff, and internal stakeholders.
- Manages user accounts, access rights, and system security to maintain data integrity and compliance with applicable laws and policies.
- Develops, maintains, and produces operational, statistical, and regulatory reports, including support for mandated reporting.
- Provides technical support and guidance to dispatch, records, and police staff related to CAD/RMS and associated applications.
- Coordinates system upgrades, patches, testing, and backup/recovery activities to ensure continuity of operations.
- Collaborates with the Information Technology Department and GIS professionals to support mapping, reporting, and system integration needs.
- Monitors system performance, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes; recommends and implements approved improvements.
- Assists with training, documentation and vendor coordination.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a closely related field supplemented by five (5) years of progressively responsible experience supporting public safety information systems, such as Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), or comparable enterprise applications.
Experience administering, configuring, or supporting CAD/RMS systems in a law enforcement or public safety environment is preferred.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years driving history.

General and Sensory Requirements

The employee must be able to talk and hear effectively, both in person and over the phone, and must be capable of operating a vehicle if required by the role. Vision requirements include consistent near and far visual acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus to allow a broad field of vision.
Light Physical Demands
This position is primarily sedentary in nature. The employee must be able to exert up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Environment
Physical presence onsite is required. Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office environment. The noise level in this environment is usually quiet to moderate.
