Purpose of Position
This position provides technical expertise at the corporate level to support the design and implementation of bearing manufacturing processes for new and existing Timken facilities worldwide. The Controls & Machine Design Engineer will deliver controls and design support across manufacturing assets — including heat treatment, finish grinding, automation, and end-of-line processing (assembly, laser scanning, packing, etc.) — and help drive Industry 4.0 initiatives through machine connectivity and PLC programming.

Purpose of Position
This position provides technical expertise at the corporate level to support the design and implementation of bearing manufacturing processes for new and existing Timken facilities worldwide. The Controls & Machine Design Engineer will deliver controls and design support across manufacturing assets — including heat treatment, finish grinding, automation, and end-of-line processing (assembly, laser scanning, packing, etc.) — and help drive Industry 4.0 initiatives through machine connectivity and PLC programming.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support capital projects: design, implement, startup, and train on process equipment and track appropriation requisitions.
- Design and rebuild machine electrical systems, review specs and coordinate with vendors.
- Enable machine connectivity and Industry 4.0 solutions (PLC integration, wired/wireless networking).
- Ensure compliance with plant standards, technical procedures, and electrical codes.
- Manage project schedules/resources and support continuous improvement initiatives to boost throughput, quality, safety, and cost performance.
- Deploy new process technologies in collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Design teams.
- International and/or domestic travel up to 25% required to support process start-up.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, mechatronics, or related field with 7 years of relevant experience in manufacturing controls, machine electrical design, or automation engineering.
- Experience with Machine Control System Hardware/Software Design – Rockwell Studio 5000, FactoryTalk ViewME, FactoryTalk View Studio, Siemens TIA Portal, Mitsubishi PLC, GE Fanuc and CNC Controllers.
- Industry 4.0
- Electrical schematic reading and machine electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical) preferred.
- Familiar with UL/NEC/CE machine electrical standards.
- Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
