Salary Range: $79,200.00- $109,100.00

Position Summary

The Timken Company is seeking a Senior IT Analyst (Level III) to provide advanced technical support and system ownership for a business‑critical legacy application and its supporting infrastructure. This role focuses on application assessment, modernization, and stabilization, requiring strong troubleshooting skills, independent technical judgment, and the ability to lead moderately complex technical initiatives with minimal supervision. The Senior IT Analyst acts as a trusted technical partner to engineering, quality, operations, and site leadership, translating system limitations and modernization needs into actionable technical and project plans. This role also serves as a key technical evaluator during contractor or developer interviews and supports solution delivery through requirements definition, structured project execution, testing coordination, risk assessment, and clear technical documentation.

Core Functions

  • Serve as the senior technical resource responsible for the assessment, modernization, and stabilization of a legacy internal application.
  • Perform in‑depth review of application architecture, codebase, dependencies, and supporting SQL Server databases.
  • Lead or support modernization efforts, including migration from .NET Framework 4.8 to a newer supported .NET / .NET Core version.
  • Identify and resolve assembly reference, dependency, and compatibility issues across Visual Studio and framework versions.
  • Support modification, migration, or replacement of Crystal Reports, including diagnosing version and plugin limitations.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of application behavior, build issues, and system integration challenges.

Project Management & Execution

  • Plan and execute small to medium technical initiatives, including scope definition, effort estimation, sequencing of work, and coordination with engineering, quality, operations, and IT stakeholders.
  • Establish and manage clear milestones, risks, and dependencies for application support or modernization work.
  • Balance operational support responsibilities with project execution, ensuring commitments are met without service degradation.
  • Track progress, surface risks early, and adjust technical approach based on changing priorities or constraints.

Stakeholder Partnership & Technical Leadership

  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, operations, and IT stakeholders to define requirements, validate solutions, and support testing.
  • Serve as the technical interviewer and evaluator for contractor or developer candidates following behavioral screening.
  • Translate technical risks, constraints, and solution options into clear business impacts and recommendations for non‑technical stakeholders.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Develop and maintain clear, structured technical documentation, including application assessments, architecture overviews, troubleshooting guides, and modernization recommendations.
  • Ensure documentation is consumable by other IT analysts and support teams to reduce single‑point dependency and long‑term support risk.
  • Contribute to standard operating procedures, runbooks, and knowledge articles related to application support and modernization.

Mentorship, Governance & Compliance

  • Mentor junior IT Analysts by sharing troubleshooting approaches, system knowledge, project execution practices, and documentation standards.
  • Utilize the corporate ticketing system to document incidents, problems, changes, and project‑related work with sufficient detail for auditability and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate IT policies related to security, access control, backup, and audit readiness.

This role requires a hands‑on Senior IT Analyst with strong troubleshooting skills, a systems and project mindset, and the ability to own outcomes rather than escalate by default.

General Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma with 10 years of relevant IT experience, or
  • Associate’s degree in IT or related field with 7 years relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field with 4–6 years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or modernizing legacy applications.
  • Strong experience with C#, Visual Basic, Python, .NET Framework, and modern .NET (including .NET Core / .NET 6 ).
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server, including schema review and impact analysis.
  • Experience working with Crystal Reports or comparable reporting platforms.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing moderately complex technical work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical documentation and explain technical issues to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring junior analysts or serving as an escalation and guidance resource.
  • Ability to prioritize across operational support, project execution, and documentation responsibilities.
  • Willingness to support on‑site activities as needed.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience modernizing applications using vendor‑supported modernization tools.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, quality, inspection, or audit‑sensitive systems.
  • Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments.

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR). Eligible candidates are; US Citizens, Green Card holders, Asylees or others eligible to receive US export license authorizations. Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
