What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line / Prep Cook position at The Thistle Restaurant?
We are seeking a versatile Line / Prep Cook to lead our broiled entree and daily specials station. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing broiled seafood dishes (such as salmon, flounder, crabmeat-stuffed flounder, scallops, and shrimp), soups, salads, and seasonal specials. While our primary fry cook handles the main fry station, you will provide backup frying support as needed during busy rushes.
Key Responsibilities
- Broiled Entrees & Oven Station: Prepare and cook all broiled seafood options, including stuffed flounder, glazed salmon, scallops, and combination platters to exact standards.
- Specials & Appetizers: Assist with preparing daily lunch/dinner specials, soups (clam chowders), house salads, baked clam appetizers, and traditional side dishes.
- Food Preparation & Batter Prep: Handle prep work for fresh fish, seafood, marinades, glazes, and side items according to house recipes.
- Backup Fry Station Support: Step in to assist at the fry station with fried fish, chips, and sides during high-volume peak hours.
- Quality & Portion Control: Maintain strict quality standards to ensure accurate side pairings (chips, rice, or roasted potatoes) and consistent portioning.
- Cleanliness & Sanitation: Keep your station clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift. Execute daily opening, closing, and restocking duties in compliance with health safety standards.
- Teamwork: Work closely with the kitchen team and owners to ensure smooth ticket flow and prompt order completion.
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 27.5 per week
