SYNOPSIS: Where The Black Boys Are is a choreopoem that follows four black men
trying to grieve the end of their boyhood. When their support group begins to transform
the real world, they must dare to fly to find freedom.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
[ONE] The youngest black king, bright-eyed optimist, class clown with an incongruent self
image, but in pursuit of a brotherhood. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE SEEKING
PERFORMERS OF TRANSMASCULINE EXPERIENCE FOR THIS ROLE.
[TWO] The eldest black king with no feelings for anything other than revolution, assuming the
positions of the advocate, the leader, direct descendant of a black panther.
[THREE] A young black king with a hardened exterior harboring his resentment and righteous
rage, but more importantly, harboring everything else.
[FOUR] an older black king, sensitive. joyful, with a reserved nature, rebuilding bonds
believing he is the root of the fracture.
AUDITION INFORMATION
The Theater Offensive will be accepting video audition submissions sent by or before Tuesday September 22nd at 10:00am EST.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Please prepare two (2) self-tapes:
● One (1) from the sides provided below
● One (1) movement sample
Both self-tapes are required. See below for how to access sides and for movement
sample requirements. You may audition for one or multiple characters from the available
roles listed above.

MOVEMENT SAMPLE:
Please submit a 1 - 3 minute long movement sample as a part of your video audition.
This sample invites you to display your movement sensibilities and style. We encourage
movement in any and all capacities. Seeking actors who tell stories through physicality.
