Bell-Staff/Valet
Description:
The Bell-Staff/Valet assist in carrying luggage for our guests as they come to or leave The Thayer Hotel, park and retrieve guest vehicles, and tend the main entrance door and welcome/farewell guests, arrange and manage transfers, help guests with directions and perform as the first and last impression for them.
Responsibilities:
- Open the door for incoming / outgoing guests.
- Check luggage at the Front Desk or bellman’s closet if needed.
- Help the guests retrieve their luggage from their vehicles.
- Tag and transport guest luggage to their rooms/storage areas.
- Park and Retrieve guests’ cars in all types of weather.
- Pick-up and drop-off guests in the golf cart when called / requested.
- Deliver packages and amenities to guest rooms.
- Bring mail to the post office.
- Pick up Newspapers for customers.
- Check guest rooms for departures.
- Deliver water when requested.
- Fill and place water container in lobby.
- Tend to the fireplace.
- Clean coffee station / water station/ trash.
- Clean up front entrance area of the lobby and foyer.
- Check rooms for any due outs, if necessary.
- Read Transportation Log, Communication Log, and Daily Events.
- Shovel/ salt walkways during hazardous weather conditions.
- Maintain the van and bus (cleanliness and gas).
- Alert managers about any golf cart maintenance.
- Make bank deposit trips when needed.
- Pick up / drop off dry cleaning.
Winter Responsibilities:
- Keep the wood wagon filled overnight and ready for morning staff.
- Keep our lobby fireplace clean.
- Shovel and salt front entrance and all slated areas.
- keep lobby foyer dry and clean.
Note:
Our Bell-Staff/Valet position is a weather essential position. Our Bell-Staff/Valet are eligible for tips received from guests. This position requires you to be on your feet during the majority of the shift and there are some areas of the hotel only accessible via stairs and our Bell-Staff/Valet may need to carry guest luggage up or down up to 5 flights of stairs.
