Assistant Store Manager #9
The Texan Stores is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Assistant Store Manager (ASM) at our store in Port Aransas, Texas. ASM's are responsible for assisting the Store Manager in supervising all activates related to store operations, including the supervision of store employees.
In coordination with the Store Manager, the ASM may be responsible and accountable to:
- Lead, coach, teach and reinforce the company's culture, customer service, and performance expectations to all store employees.
- The initial and ongoing training of other team members
- Maintain adequate staffing levels by submitting requisitions for open positions to human resources, interviewing candidates, and submitting documentation in follow up to interviews.
- Finalize and approve weekly work schedule for employees under their purview.
- Write and conduct performance reviews of department team members
- Document violations of company policies/procedures and conduct appropriate corrective action, up to and including termination, involving Human Resources as appropriate.
- Build relationships with team members and coach them, regardless of their performance level
- Inspire and persuade others to voluntarily follow direction, pursue and achieve goals, and adopt new positions or opinions.
- Ask clarifying questions that elicit clearer or more detailed information
- Balance analysis, wisdom, experience, and perspective when making decisions
- Respect and maintain confidentiality of team members and the company
- Answer questions and provides guidance to all department team members
- Assist all department team members, supervisors, and team members with daily responsibilities while leading by example.
- Ensure all standards are being met in convenience store.
- Process all customer purchases promptly and courteously through the use of a cash register and gas console, ringing the correct departments and amounts, maintaining an accurate change fund and checking for proper identification when applicable.
- Accurately record, stock and maintain product inventory as directed by the manager.
- Accurately ring up all sales. Reports accurate fuel inventory readings daily.
- Accurately process cash and credit purchases recognizing the different types of credit cards acceptable.
- Food preparation including making coffee for customers, etc.
- Receive, verify, and process merchandise and vendor shipments accurately and timely
- Adhere to company standards around promotions and signage.
- Maintain clean interior and exterior convenience store appearance as per convenience store operating standards to attract and retain customers
- Control cash merchandise shortages through proper use of company control procedures
- Enforce check and credit card acceptance policies
- Ensure all team members comply with all money drop procedures to ensure employee safety and to protect company funds
- Prepare daily reports and money deposits accurately and timely
- Monitor and maintains all food service areas per company policies and government regulations to protect customers from illness.
- Ensure strict compliance with all company policies and procedures applying to the sale of age-restricted products.
- Scheduling team members to coincide with budget and labor projections and to make daily adjustments as necessary
- Communicate and work cooperatively with District Managers, Store Support Center Staff, and other department managers and team members to maintain standards and exceed customer service expectations.
- Always make the best use of time and resources; seek ways to reduce costs
- Identify the sequence of tasks and the resources needed to achieve a goal and prioritizes key action steps. Anticipates the impacts and risks of decisions and actions.
