Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated CNC Operator Helper to support our fabrication team in operating CNC press brakes and laser cutting operations. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals looking to build a career in manufacturing. The Helper will assist with material handling, part sorting, and workflow organization while learning the fundamentals required to advance into a CNC Operator role.
This role requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist CNC operators with loading and unloading raw materials (steel sheets, plate, and formed parts)
- Remove cut parts from laser-cut sheets and separate skeleton material
- Sort and organize parts by job, part number, and downstream process
- Place parts on designated pallets based on routing instructions
- Ensure proper identification and traceability of parts
- Perform basic visual inspections for defects
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Support operators and supervisors with general shop tasks
- Learn basic CNC functions and fabrication processes
- Follow established safety, housekeeping, and environmental practices at all times.
- Report equipment issues, tool wear, or material non-conformances to supervision promptly.
- Support continuous improvement efforts, including lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or trade school preferred.
- Willingness to learn CNC operations and fabrication.
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Standing, bending, and repetitive motion throughout the shift.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CNC fabrication equipment.
- Prior manufacturing or material handling experience.
- Familiarity with metal fabrication environments.
- Basic understanding of measuring tools or blueprints.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 or military-grade quality systems.
