What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Teacher (Long Term Substitute) position at The Tatnall School?
Founded in 1930, The Tatnall School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school situated on a pastoral, 110-acre campus in Greenville, Delaware, near Wilmington. Tatnall includes four academic divisions with 500 students from age 2 through grade 12. The Tatnall School is seeking a long-term substitute to teach Spanish Level 2 and 3, effective April 13, 2026. The ideal candidate should be fluent in Spanish and have experience teaching.
Main Responsibilities:
- Teach five sections:
- 3 sections of Spanish level 2 (target proficiency level: intermediate low)
- 2 sections of Spanish level 3 (target proficiency level: intermediate low-mid)
- Assist as an advisor to Upper School students
- Implement curriculum
- Assess and provide feedback on student learning
- Create a positive atmosphere
- Demonstrate a student-centered approach to education
- Ability to work closely and collegially with students, faculty, administrators, and parents in a lively independent school setting.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and community through culturally responsive and identity-affirming practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Fluent Spanish
- Teaching experience preferred; mentorship available
