Business Office Administrator
The Taos News | Taos, NM | Full-Time | Non-Exempt | $20/hour | Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
About the Role
The Taos News is looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Business Office Administrator to serve as the front-line presence of our business office. In this role, you’ll handle day-to-day financial and administrative operations — from greeting visitors and answering phones to posting payments and balancing the cash drawer — keeping our office running smoothly and our clients well served.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the first point of contact for clients and the public — answering phones, greeting walk-ins, and responding to correspondence
- Post payments and provide support on billing questions
- Perform daily cash drawer balancing and end-of-day reconciliation
- Process disputes and assist with collections as needed
- Maintain accurate records and perform general data entry with speed and accuracy
- Support the business office with clerical and administrative tasks as assigned
- Perform other duties of a similar nature as directed
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3–5 years of experience in an accounting support or administrative role, including customer service
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Familiarity with basic office equipment and internet/email
Preferred:
- Experience in a media, publishing, or fast-paced small business environment
