National Account Manager – Drug & Specialty Beauty



The Opportunity

Join a fast-growing, entrepreneurial beauty company with more than 70 years of industry experience and a portfolio of high-quality, accessible makeup tools, body-care accessories, and skincare products sold in more than 90 countries.


They are seeking a commercially driven National Account Manager to lead and expand several of the company’s most important drug and specialty-beauty retail partnerships, including Sephora.


This is a highly visible opportunity for a strategic account leader who can accelerate revenue, strengthen retailer relationships, identify new opportunities, and translate consumer and market insights into profitable growth.


Position Overview

The National Account Manager will develop and execute strategic account plans that align the company’s brand priorities with each retailer’s business objectives. This position has meaningful ownership of revenue, profitability, assortment, distribution, promotional strategy, innovation launches, forecasting, and overall customer performance.


Success in this role requires the ability to think strategically, operate with urgency, influence across functions, and build trusted relationships with senior retail partners.



Key Responsibilities

Drive Profitable Growth

  • Own and exceed annual sales, profitability, and distribution targets across assigned national accounts
  • Develop comprehensive customer strategies that expand distribution, strengthen market share, accelerate innovation, and create a compelling presence within each beauty category
  • Identify opportunities to enter new retailers, expand into additional categories or doors, and replace competitive brands within existing accounts.
  • Grow P&L contribution by increasing top-line sales, improving operational efficiency, and maximizing the return on promotional, trade, and markdown investments.
  • Monitor performance closely and adjust account strategies in response to changing consumer, retailer, and market conditions.


Lead Strategic Retail Partnerships

  • Build strong, long-term relationships with category managers, divisional merchandise managers, buyers, replenishment teams, and retail marketing partners.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer internally, ensuring retailer priorities and market opportunities are understood across the organization.
  • Lead high-impact customer meetings by anticipating retailer needs, aligning customer and company objectives, and translating discussions into clear actions and measurable outcomes.
  • Develop persuasive, insight-driven presentations that strengthen partnerships and unlock new business opportunities.


Translate Insights inton Action

  • Analyze weekly point-of-sale data, syndicated market data, inventory levels, weeks of supply, promotional performance, new-product results, and seasonal sell-through.
  • Create actionable internal and external reporting that clearly identifies performance drivers, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate weekly S&OP forecasts by account, region, and SKU, incorporating promotional activity, product launches, inventory movement, and retailerdemand.
  • Use data and customer insights to recommend assortment, distribution, pricing, promotional, and inventory strategies.


Lead Cross-Functional Execution

  • Partner closely with Trade Marketing, Brand Marketing, Product Development, Operations, Purchasing, Finance, and Supply Chain to deliver successful customer programs.
  • Lead the development, evaluation, and execution of strategic opportunity briefs, promotional plans, new-product launches, and retailer-specific initiatives.
  • Ensure internal teams remain aligned on priorities, timing, financial expectations, and execution requirements.
  • Proactively identify potential obstacles and coordinate solutions before they affect customers or business performance.



Build a High-Performance Account Team

  • Provide direct oversight and strategic direction to external brokers and account partners.
  • Establish clear goals, performance expectations, communication rhythms, and accountability measures.
  • Create a collaborative, results-oriented environment that supports professional development and consistently delivers against company priorities.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years of progressive sales or national account management experience within beauty, personal care, consumer products, or a related category.
  • Demonstrated experience calling on national retailers; direct experience with drug, mass, or specialty-beauty accounts is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing brokers and external sales partnersis required.
  • Proven record of setting, measuring, and exceeding revenue, profitability, distribution, and customer-growth goals.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing trade investments, promotional spending, forecasts, and account-level profitability.
  • Ability to interpret POS, syndicated, inventory, and customer data and translate findings into effective businessstrategies.
  • Exceptional presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, and executive communica
  • tion skills.Strong cross-functional leadership skills and the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Highly self-motivated, resourceful, responsive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and account-management reporting tools.
