Job Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment, facilities, and automation systems. This role provides hands-on and strategic leadership for preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance, with a strong focus on robotics, automation, and continuous improvement in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
- Lead and manage maintenance personnel, including technicians, electricians, and automation specialists
- Ensure uptime and reliability of production equipment including presses, robotic cells, conveyors, and auxiliary equipment
- Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, PLC, and robotic issues
- Drive root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions for equipment failures
Robotics & Automation
- Support and maintain industrial robots (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa/Motoman, etc.)
- Lead troubleshooting and recovery of robotic press lines, weld cells, and automated systems
- Support robot programming changes, backups, and system documentation
- Work with engineering and integrators on new automation installations and upgrades
- Ensure robotic systems meet safety and compliance requirements
Leadership & Management
- Train, mentor, and develop maintenance team skills, including robotics and controls
- Manage maintenance staffing, scheduling, and on-call support
- Develop and manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and capital requests
- Coordinate with production and engineering to support launches and continuous improvement
- Enforce safety standards, lockout/tagout, and regulatory compliance
Continuous Improvement
- Drive improvements in equipment availability, MTBF, and maintenance cost
- Implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and TPM principles
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives
- Lead capital equipment upgrades and obsolescence planning
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience
- 5 years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong hands-on experience with industrial robotics and automation
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial controls
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in metal stamping or automotive manufacturing
- Familiarity with safety standards related to robotics (ISO, RIA, OSHA)
- Experience with CMMS systems
- Knowledge of servo presses, vision systems, and automated inspection
- Formal training or certification in robotics or controls
Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
