Program Overview
The Concrete Delivery Professional Trainee Program is a paid OJT opportunity for individuals who already hold a valid North Carolina Class A or B Commercial Driver License (CDL) and are eager to begin or advance a career in ready-mix concrete delivery.
Through hands-on training, participants will learn to operate ready-mix trucks, deliver concrete to job sites, perform equipment inspections, and provide excellent service to internal and external customers — all while being mentored by experienced Concrete Delivery Professional Training Specialists.
Successful completion of the program can lead to full-time employment with Sunrock as a Concrete Delivery Professional.
What You’ll Learn
- Safe operation of a ready-mix truck (pre-trip inspections, delivery procedures, wash-down, post-trip protocols).
- How to load, transport, and deliver concrete to residential, commercial, and industrial job sites.
- Communication and coordination with dispatchers, batch plants, and contractors.
- Basic concrete knowledge — slump, mix types, temperature impacts, and placement methods.
- Sunrock’s safety and quality standards, DOT compliance, and customer service expectations.
- How to represent the Sunrock brand professionally on every delivery.
Responsibilities
- Operate a ready-mix truck safely and efficiently under trainer supervision.
- Complete all required pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspection reports.
- Deliver concrete to job sites, ensuring correct product placement and timely delivery.
- Maintain truck cleanliness and assist with minor maintenance.
- Communicate clearly with customers and site supervisors.
- Follow all DOT, OSHA, and Sunrock safety procedures.
- Participate in scheduled training sessions and performance reviews.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or B North Carolina CDL (required)
- Current DOT medical card (required)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks
- Strong communication skills and commitment to safety
- Reliable transportation to and from assigned plant locations
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time, Monday – Saturday as needed (early mornings and overtime common)
- Paid training through NCWorks OJT Program in partnership with Sunrock
- Pay rate based on experience and training progress
