SUMMARY:
Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties. Competently able to inspect at least one assigned production department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Essential duties are performed with minimal supervision.
- Interprets discrete job routing sheet, artwork, and specifications and confers with management or other staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
- Works with production personnel to ensure cleanliness/sanitation of production equipment prior to production startup.
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as moisture, pH, organoleptic attributes, etc.
- Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance.
- Oversees Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and reports any infractions to the appropriate Supervisor/Manager.
- Crossed trained in other departments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities but may assist with the training of other Quality Control Inspectors.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
