Position Overview
STRO Companies is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to support the accounting and operational functions across its portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role will be responsible for property-level accounting, tenant billing, and lease administration within Yardi, and will play a key role in the monthly close process and financial reporting. The Senior Property Accountant will work closely with the Controller to ensure timely close cycles, clean financials, and consistent processes across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Support monthly close process across a multi-property portfolio by preparing bank reconciliations, posting journal entries and compiling financial statements
- Manage rent and CAM billing cycles, including statement preparation, reconciliation and distribution
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on delinquencies
- Manage lease administration in Yardi
- Maintain tenant records and ensure compliance with lease terms, including without limitation, tracking and applying rent escalations and reconciliation of utility expenses and tenant bill-backs
- Manage tenant move-ins and move-outs administration in Yardi, including final account reconciliations and security deposits
- Support treasury-related functions
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new properties, including configuring Yardi systems and managing tenant communications
Qualifications
- 3–6 years of experience in property accounting or commercial real estate accounting
- Strong experience with Yardi Voyager required
- Solid understanding of accounts receivable, billing, and lease structures
- Experience with CAM reconciliations and tenant accounting preferred
- Strong Excel skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
