Courtesy Patrol - Apartment Community

Position Summary

The Courtesy Patrol is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, guests, and staff. This role ensures compliance with community rules, deters criminal activity, and provides visible security presence across the property. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Essential Functions

• Patrol community grounds, parking areas, buildings, and common spaces to deter criminal activity and ensure resident safety.
• Monitor access points, including gates, lobbies, or community areas, ensuring only authorized individuals are permitted entry.
• Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, and reported incidents, including emergencies (medical, fire, safety, or criminal).
• Prepare clear, accurate, and timely incident reports, logs, and other required documentation.
• Collaborate with property management, law enforcement, and emergency personnel as needed.
• Enforce property rules and policies consistently, including noise complaints, loitering, and other disturbances.
• Conduct routine checks of security systems, lighting, locks, and surveillance footage equipment; report deficiencies to management.
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with residents, guests, and vendors while maintaining professionalism and discretion.
• Assist with crowd control and parking management during community events, move-ins, or emergencies.
• Serve as a first responder for conflicts or potential threats until appropriate authorities arrive.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current security guard license (as required by state law).
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
• Must be able to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk, patrol, and stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift).
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing stairs.
• Visual and auditory ability to identify potential threats, respond to alarms, and communicate clearly.

Work Environment

• Position involves regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
• May encounter stressful or emergency situations requiring quick decision-making.
• Work performed on-site at apartment community, including offices, residential buildings, parking lots, and common areas.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.50 - $19.50 per hour
