Position Title: Social Media Strategy & Administrative Intern
Department: Digital - International
Reports to: Director of International Campaigns
Location: Office-Based - Old Town Alexandria
Hours: 20 hours per week
Salary: $15/hour
The Social Media Strategy & Administrative Intern will support the firm’s international growth by combining digital research and social media strategy development with administrative support. The intern will gain skills in political research, digital analytics, social media strategy and political creative design, while also learning the back-end operations of an international consulting team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Social Media Strategy & Research
- Research social media usage habits and trends in target countries.
- Analyze digital campaigning techniques, including emerging tools and viral strategies.
- Conduct social listening reports to monitor sentiment, trending topics, and competitor narratives.
- Track digital influencers, platforms, and online communities relevant to politics in new markets.
New Business & Administrative Support
- Maintain a tracker of global elections and priority countries, identify entry points for client engagement.
- Organize task lists, timelines, and deliverables for the international team.
- Support project management through meeting prep, note-taking, and follow-up documentation.
- Manage shared resources such as country briefings, client pipelines, and election law summaries.
- Build and update country-specific political and legal profiles.
Creative Content Development
- The intern will work with the Director of International Campaigns to create a message calendar based on polling and other factors.
- The intern will be responsible for making that message plan become a reality.
- Working alongside the Director and our design team, the intern will write and create social media content reflective of the campaign's goals and the message calendar.
- Pull together daily new briefs on relevant political updates for dedicated clients.
- Support development of weekly social listening reports and recommend adjustments to social strategy to team leaders.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current student in Political Science, International Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- Interest in social media strategy, political campaigns, and international affairs.
- Proficiency in research and writing; familiarity with social media analytics a plus.
- Proficiency in a second language.
